When are you on?
I’m on air from 10pm to midnight on Sundays.
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
On the show I play jazz-folk, power jazz, modal jazz, Brazilian classics, funk, film soundtracks, Bollywood, hip-hop, spoken word, soul.
How did you get into this type of music?
Listening to the original London black music pirate radio station ‘Radio Invicta’ in the early 80s.
How long have you been DJing?
I started presenting on the radio four years ago on Vibaraphonic FM and Ive been DJ’ing for 10 years.
How did you start DJing?
I got tired of not being able to hear jazz when I went to a club, so I started my own jazz night.
Can we find you DJing anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
I DJ on the occasional Sunday night at The Angel pub in Queens Street.
What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
I was DJing at an event and the record on the deck had finished playing but I was still in the toilet. When I came out of the toilet a silent crowd of people were waiting for me!
What has been your best DJing moment?
Playing a funky track with bagpipes and people getting up and dancing to it.
Who is your favourite artist?
Elis Regina – she is just simply the queen of Brazilian music
What is your all time favourite album?
At the moment, Welcome by James Pants
Where do you shop for music?
The record fair at St George’s Market – it’s the only place that has the music I like.
