Playing hip-hop, funk, soul, rock, basically anything that’s funky. |
Name: Jules
Show: Street Music Show
When are you on?
I’m on every third Friday from 8pm to 10pm.
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Hip-hop – new and old, UK and otherwise, plus a liberal dashing of funk from myself.
How did you get into this type of music?
I love to dance.
How long have you been DJing?
I’m not sure whether you’d call what I do Djing! I’ve been playing records since I got my first record player aged nine (so a few years now). I guess you only become a DJ when other people are listening, so really since I started playing on Vibraphonic FM in 2005.
How did you start DJing?
I first started playing for other people at parties around 1999, just because that was what we did at parties, played records, danced and had a few drinks. I was quite surprised the first time someone called me a DJ.
Do you DJ anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
Only those parties…
What has been your worst/ most embarrassing DJing moment?
Getting caught getting changed to go out in the studio.
What has been your best DJing moment?
Getting a request over the email and actually having the record with me.
Who is your favourite artist?
Oh, so many, but I guess I would say George Clinton right now because I’ve just seen him live and because the man is a God.
What is your all time favourite album?
There are too many to pick just one.
Where do you shop for music?
In Exeter I go to Rooster Records and charity shops but mostly I buy online.
