An aural homage to Men in Love featuring great music and some of the best pants this side of Superman. |
Show name: Friday Ding Dong
Presenters names: Bob Ding and Arthur Dong
Show time and day: Usually the first Friday of the month, 4pm-6pm. We do change it every now and again, though, just to catch out those of you trying to avoid us.
Describe your show in one short sentence: An aural homage to Men in Love.
What type of music can we expect to hear on the show?
Oh, both kinds.
Why do you like this music?
It makes us feel cheap and a little bit dirty.
What is the format of your show?
We set a different subject for each show and then each of us chooses his tracks accordingly. Once in the studio, we put on our wrestling pants and grapple it out until we have a winner. Or the show is taken off-air. Which has only happened a couple of times.
Why should we listen to your show?
Tune in for cash giveaways and the rasping sound of love in lycra. Regular listeners will also receive a substantial discount when booking our exotic dance troupe, Meat and Two Veg.
How did your show come about?
Photos. You never know when they’re going to come in handy.
What goes on behind the scenes in the studio?
When we’re not wrestling we’re mostly dealing with the constant requests for autographs and relationship advice from other Phonic DJs. Some people really need to learn a little self-respect.
What has been your best on air moment?
We’ve been on air our whole lives. Apart from a brief flirtation with helium during the early nineties. Big mistake.
What has been your worst/ most embarrassing on air moment?
A mistimed slam resulted in Arthur wearing Bob as a helmet for much of the last show.
Who is your favourite artist?
He may not be our favourite but we did have a big hand in Robert Mapplethorpe’s success.
What is your all time favourite album? Summer ’98 which documents our trip to Brazil, Arthurs’ subsequent arrest and our attempts to find an effective method of artificial insemination during three weeks of prison visits. Happy days.
