The only show that matters. |
Show name: Trash City Radio Show
Presenter name: Joe Rebel
Show time and day: Tuesday’s 6pm – 8pm
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Anything good. If I like it it’s in. I don’t want to play some random track and pretend I love it, when in fact I don’t. I stick to music i like!
Why do you like this music?
How long is a piece of string?
What is the format of your show?
No playlists. I don’t do ‘big-ups’ and ‘shout outs’ as that is so patronising and false. I play what I consider to be great music, whatever year or genre it comes from, and if listeners like it that’s a bonus. Generally they do!
Why should we listen to your show?
Because it’s a chance to get turned on to stuff you may never have heard before or you may hear a long lost track that jogs the old memory.
How did your show come about?
I’m one of the originals from the early Phonic FM/Vibraphonic FM days. There isn’t many of us left.
What goes on behind the scenes in the studio?
Air guitar / drums, out of tune singing!
What has been you best on air moment?
I’m always striving for perfection – trying to make the shows more interesting etc. It’s taken me a while to find my ‘voice’ as i wasn’t a natural for the radio, but i think I’ve done amazingly in the short time I’ve been a radio presenter on Phonic FM.
What has been your worst/ most embarrassing on air moment?
What annoys me is when random people walk into the studio when I’m in the middle of a show and ask some stupid question unconnected to me or the radio, and then they get upset when i get angry. I suppose this is always going to be a problem when you share the building with rehearsal space and artists etc.
Who is your favourite artist? Why?
The Clash, because they are simply the greatest band ever!
What is your all time favourite album? Why?
As I said in the presenter profile, I’m more likely to be into the body of work, than one particular album of any band or artists I happen to like.
