At 8pm Tuesday 17 March the first hour of The Future Sound of Exeter Show will be given over to the music of Frank Zappa and it’s reinterpretation by Zappatika, who are playing at Exeter Phoenix on Thursday 19 March.
In no particular order Zappa’s enormous catalogue covers: doo-wop, rock, jazz, pop, classical, psychedelia, blues, reggae, funk, music concrete and Broadway - often fusing these forms together and overlaying them with biting satire and comedy.
This show will focus on the rock, blues and funky elements of his output which Zappatika specialise in and will serve as a fast-track introduction to the great man’s body of work and an appetiser for Thursday’s event…
