All The Roads Here |
All The Roads Here , Premiered on Plan 9, Phonic FM, Wednesday 9th Sept 2pm to 4pm
All The Roads Here is a warm and touching radio drama that tells the true stories of three migrants and their extraordinary journeys to the UK.
Phoenix Media, Action For Education and film-maker Peter Snelling have been working with a group of migrants to create a radio play based on their experiences of coming to the UK.
The play has been devised in weekly sessions and performed and recorded by the group which contains men and women from Columbia, Bolivia,Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland and Libya.
Peter said: “This play takes you across the globe and a very authentic piece of reality radio drama. The script is a human tale of people’s beginnings and a fight for survival and all their roads ending in Devon.”
Zai Ingram, A4e (ESOL) tutor in Exeter, said: “My students came up with the ideas and a real team spirit was developed and I am very proud of them.”
Gaby Kanarek, A4e contract delivery manager added: “Our programme is not just about learning English-but broadening people’s self belief, and getting engaged in the local community.
“Many refugees feel isolated when they first come to this country. This unique radio drama is breaking down barriers-and especially drawing people out of their shells to re-engage with other people.”
All The Roads Here will be broadcast on Plan 9, Phonic FM, 106.8FM, this Wednesday at 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm in Exeter.
