Two great choirs join forces this Christmas season to present Sense-ation, an uplifting night of song at Exeter Northcott on Thursday 10 December at 7.30pm.

Exeter Northcott’s own Northcott Community Singers are teaming up with Clear Sounds, a South West Choir made up of blind and partially sighted people.

Both choirs will sing individually and then together during an eclectic evening of traditional Christmas music, pop Christmas classics and uplifting songs from around the world.

This is a charitable event, with proceeds going to RNIB and Action for Blind People, and the work of the Northcott Theatre Foundation.

Tickets are just £6, and each ticket includes a free mince pie.

Colin Rea, one of Northcott Community Singers’ two conductors, said: “The Northcott Community Singers have had a really successful term working towards this concert.

“Joining forces with Clear Sounds has been an enlightening and rewarding experience, especially in raising my own awareness of the needs of blind and partially sighted people.”

Mike Holroyd, conductor of Clear Sounds, added: “This is the first time Clear Sounds have collaborated with another choir. The conductor swaps have been very beneficial, and have really benefited the learning processes of both choirs.”

Sharon Woodhams, RNIB South West Fundraising Manager said the event promises to be a fantastic night saying: “As Helen Keller said – ‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much’. I suspect that no one will leave the theatre unmoved by what they have heard.”

The Northcott Community Singers is led by Colin Rea and Claire Steer. It exists to challenge and inspire singers of all ages and musical ability, and aims to develop singers’ musicianship in sight-reading, vocal techniques and music theory. It currently boasts 97 members, a record.

Clear Sounds is a Bristol-based choir, predominantly made up of blind and partially-sighted people.
