Nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Folk Award 2008, for best newcomer, The Shee are an exceptional all-female band showcasing powerful vocals and instrumental prowess.

Described as flirtatiously funky by The Scotsman, as well as boasting some of folk music’s cutting-edge instrumentalists and singers, their music features original compositions alongside a wealth of traditional material.

Their adventurous brew of Scottish folk, Gaelic song, and bluegrass has earned them fast growing recognition.

As well as successful performances at festivals including Celtic Connections and Sidmouth Folk Week, The Shee demonstrate an impressive array of individual musical achievements including BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician 2006 and BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician Finalist 2005, as well as members performing with acclaimed traditional music groups such as Scottish folk orchestra The Unusual Suspects, Kathryn Tickell Band and Scandinavian group Frigg.

Support comes from Ella Edmondson, a contemporary singer songwriter based on Dartmoor in Devon.

She has been playing her trade around the UK for a few years, whilst honing her performing and song writing skills.

Ella has recently finished recording her debut album Hold Your Horses produced by Andy Seward (Kate Rusby, Roddy Womble, Eddi Reader). The album includes stunning performances from a host of award winning UK folk musicians, who between them have been largely responsible for the enormous popularity of the genre today. Guest Appearances include John McCusker, Kate Rusby, Andy Cutting and Jim Causley.

Never shy of a performance, and eager to grasp opportunities, Ella has crossed the country many times, appearing at festivals and halls big and small consistently achieving rave reviews and most importantly building up an ever-growing army of loyal fans.

Doors open at 8:00 pm, this is a seated show.
