Young people tell new Heritage stories through drama, film and art

Young people from Exeter gave up their half-term holiday to work intensively with film maker, Tony Walker, dancer, Ricardo Barros, producer Rob Darch and theatre director, Laura Hetherington, to create an exciting performance piece based on their responses to St Nicholas Priory.

The teenagers explored the Priory and researched Tudor life and times and then made comparisons with life today. The result is a fresh take on the Priory and on Tudor life told through film, dance and theatre.

The project, organised by the Phoenix Arts Education team has been made possible by funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. St Nicholas priory kindly gave access to the Priory and Education manager, Kate Osborne, helped with research, costumes and information.

The performance will be part of the Phoenix’s Freefall Youth Arts Festival and will be staged at the Phoenix on Sunday 8 October at 6.30pm.
