A comedy classic

A comedy classic

What the Butler Saw, Barnfield Theatre, Monday 20th to Saturday 25th September, 7.30pm

Following on from their successful run of Ionesco’s The Lesson, South-West based Theatre of the Owl return to Exeter with Joe Orton’s four door Farce What the Butler Saw.

Written in 1967 but not performed until 1969, two years after his tragic death, this was to be Orton’s final play. Initially panned by critics, who described it as filth, it wasn’t until it’s revival in 1975 that the play was finally accepted as a comedy classic of English Literature.

With numerous twists and turns, mishaps, coincidences and lunatic logic, this is definitely a play to make you laugh out loud.

What the Butler Saw will run from September 20th to 25th at 7.30pm at the Barnfield Theatre.

Tickets cost £10 an are available at The Barnfield box office on 01392 270891.
