Purely & Simply Rock N' Metal. |
Name: Mike James
Show: The Rock Show
When are you on? Fridays from 10pm.
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Cutting edge rock, metal and guitar driven tunes from local, national and international acts alongside interviews with some of the biggest acts in the world and the best of the local scene often pop in to the studio to join me for a chat.
How did you get into this type of music?
It was in my blood from birth.
How long have you been DJing?
Nearly fifteen years in clubs and pubs and about five years on radio.
How did you start DJing?
I began at mate’s birthdays and college parties then I got lucky and started working at the University where I soon become resident DJ at the Lemongrove student nightclub where I played at all the events and club nights there for nearly eight years.
Can we find you DJing anywhere other then on Phonic FM?
Yes lots of places. I run a monthly rock/metal club night in Groundbreakers night club at the Hole In The Wall, Exeter. I’m often found on the decks at Metal Mondays at The Cavern Club and from the autumn of 2010 I will be hosting tribute nights in The Black Horse, Exeter so expect the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Pantera, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, AC/DC and more from the best cover bands in the UK. There will also be some very special Rock Show Live Events coming soon. So I suggest befriending the Rock Show on Facebook at www.facebook.com/rockshowonphonicfm to keep up to date with everything that is going on with the show and live events. I also run a 90s multi genre club night in Exeter and am also open to offers of anyone who wants a DJ for rent.
What has been your best DJing Moment?
I have so much fun when DJing and have been playing out for so long that they all kind of blend in to one long good memory. I loved playing at the uni and I’m really enjoying the club nights at Hole In The Wall and watching them grow and develop.
Who is your favorite artist?
I like to keep up to date and listen to a lot of fresh new acts but if I had to choose there are a few acts that never leave my MP3 player like Slipknot, Linkin Park, Prodigy, The Doors and Iron Maiden.
What is your all time favorite album?
The Holy Bible by The Manic Street Preachers because it was my coming of age album and it totally kicks ass.
