Playing post apocalyptic Music Box.

Name: Barny

Show: The Iron Bridge Mixtape

When are you on?
Alternate Saturdays Midnight to two am Sunday

What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Anything from folk to Gabba to Hip-Hop to Drone.

How did you get into this type of music?
By moving in the right circles and having friends with good and varied tastes.

How long have you been DJing?
About 16 years.

How did you start DJing?
It was a logical progression after cutting my teeth in the rave and free party scene of the early 90s.

Can we find you DJing anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
I occasionally DJ for Exeter’s Evolution Music crew who keep the city supplied with hardcore and Jungle during these tough dark times – keep your eyes on the bollards.

What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
Giving a long intro on air for a Raymond Scott Jazz track only to realise I was playing a track by Ragga artist Lady Saw…come to think of it playing jazz is fairly embarrassing.

What has been your best DJing moment
Anytime I have Jungled up a house Party is a good time, all folk love jungle, some of them just don’t know it.

Who is your favourite artist?
I don’t have a favorite artist as such. I love good music, at a push I would have to say Morrissey or The Wedding Present’s David Gedge, they have a way with words.

What is your all time favourite album?
It isn’t a favourite album it’s a mixtape, Carl Cox and Topp Buzz at the Eclipse Club in Coventry 1991 it represents my introduction into the rave scene.

Where do you shop for music in Exeter?
I don’t often, I go to HMV in an emergency but I will usually shop on line or wait until I’m in that London.
