Dartmoor Arts Project Summer School, Sunday 24th to Saturday 30th July

Dartmoor Arts Project is hosting its fifth annual summer school this July.

Each year the school welcomes a vibrant community of artists, architects, designers and makers drawn from all corners of the UK and beyond.

The Dartmoor Arts Project summer school, held in the idyllic Dartmoor village of Drewsteignton just a few miles outside of Exeter, offers a wide range of courses taught by leading practitioners. The supportive and creative environment helps artists develop their work. Also the group presents a rich and varied programme of artist talks, music, performance and screenings.

Special courses for 2011- a chance to work with Susan Derges and Sian Bonnell

Dartmoor Arts is offering a special opportunity to work with renowned photographers Susan Derges and Sian Bonnell who will be teaching THE CAMERA AS SITE OF THE IMAGINATION.

This course will involve making photographic images with digital pinhole cameras and direct contact prints or photograms in the Dartmoor Landscape.

We are also bringing Kip Gresham to teach at this years summer school – Kip is one of the most experienced and influential printmakers working in the UK today and will be teaching various printmaking techniques including etching, relief printing and screen printing.

Other courses on offer: include stone carving, earth arts, spatial structures, drawing: five days, five approaches, drawing into painting, painting in the landscape, digital photography, documentary filmmaking, iron casting, storytelling and art and philosophy.

Summer School Evenings: Programme of talks open to the public

Dartmoor Arts has a programme of talks open to the public. This year we have an impressive line up of speakers including artist Laura Ford in conversation with Author Leah Kharibian, Professor Semir Zeki discussing Art and the brain with Peter Randall-Page and author Dame Margaret Drabble talking about her work.

Dartmoor Arts Project: Bursary Awards 2011 for young and emerging artists

Dartmoor Arts Project is offering bursaries again this year to support young and emerging artists and those with limited finances who wish to attend the 2011 summer school.

A limited number of bursaries are available and the deadline is 18th April 2011. Applicants will be notified of our decision by end of April.

Applications received after the deadline will be considered at the discretion of Dartmoor Arts Project Team, but will be subject to funds available at the time. Bursaries cover up to 40 per cent of course fees.
