Beautiful Days festival: Headline acts announced

Headliners Public Image Limited, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls plus the Levellers are amongst the first acts announced for the tenth Beautiful Days festival.

Other artists on the bill include Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson plays Thick as a Brick, Midlake, Richard Thompson, The Waterboys, New Model Army, Bellowhead, Inspiral Carpets, Alabama 3, Reel Big Fish, Dreadzone, Billy Bragg celebrates Woody Guthrie’s 100th Birthday, The King Blues, Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene (Acoustic), Chris Wood, The Skints, 3 Daft Monkeys, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, Larkin Poe, The Peatbog Faeries, The Travelling Band

Organised by legendary group the Levellers the event won best family festival at the UK Festival’s awards last year. The gather boasts six stages, site art, a huge children’s area in the centre of the festival, comedy, theatre, family camping, a healing area, licensed real ale bars from Otter Brewery and carefully selected food and craft stalls.

Public Image Limited are widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time and will headline the main stage on Saturday. After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed PiL in 1978. The band – John Lydon, Bruce Smith, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth – are set to release a new album in 2012.

Friday’s main stage headliners are Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls. The group have been enjoying massive success in recent years and are back by popular demand.

Festival founders Levellers who release new studio album Static On The Airwaves in June will close the celebrations on the Sunday night followed by a firework spectacular.

Headlining The Big Top is Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson plays Thick as a Brick. Ian Anderson will commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the groundbreaking album playing it in its entirety for the first time since its original tour.

The Big Top will also house highly acclaimed Texan quintet Midlake and guitar legend Richard Thompson.
