Name: Christopher Holding
Show: The Saturday Morning Mix Tape
When are you on? Saturday 8am to 10am
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Hopefully you’ll hear everything imaginable: it’s a mix tape after all! Don’t go imagining too much chamber music, Swedish black metal or Jethro Tull as that’s less likely but, generally, music from every sphere is up for grabs.
Describe your show in two words:
Quixotic. Blitzkrieg.
How long have you been DJing?
Never done radio but did a bit of pretend DJing at uni. Y’know the kind of thing you get paid loads for if you’re Danny Dyer or a Hollyoaks pleb but everyone else does in exchange for the end of night dregs. Make of that what you will.
How did you start DJing?
Asking nicely.
What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
I once did a Young Farmers party and played Last night a DJ saved my life which no DJ should ever play ever. I was desperate but it’s no excuse.
What has been your best DJing moment?
Not really applicable. I once played Peter Gabriel and it didn’t clear the dance floor, which was satisfying.
Who is your favourite artist?
Four Tet. He makes everything sound like the music from Buck Rogers but in a good way. Or Otis Redding.
What is your all time favourite album?
Love – Forever Changes and Spiritualized – Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. I think they’re both perfect from beginning to end.
Where do you shop for music?
The library because I don’t feel obliged to buy anything.
