Playing nice music with no swearing in it, and lots of local talent. |
Name: Fran Montignani
Show: Early Bird Show
When are you on? Sundays, 8am – 10am
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Oof! Pop, rock, folk, light jazz, funk, soul, r&b, happy songs, sad songs, songs that make you want to bop, songs that make you want to cry. Also, lots of local talent because, really, that’s what we’re all about.
Each show features a different artist or expert in the industry with lots of live stuff and very nosey interviews. As I am also a voice specialist items revolve around vocal techniques and advice. I’m always a lot happier if I actually know something about my subject.
How did you get into this type of music?
People sing this sort of stuff to me most days when I work with them in the voice studio. So, it just happens. Also, such artists do some great, varied and interesting stuff with their voices. Listen carefully.
How long have you been DJing?
Since Lee Rawlings suggested it might be a good idea. Oh, how long? Since September 2011.
How did you start DJing?
I arrived, shook a lot with fear and then got on with it.
Can we find you DJing anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
Not right now. I kind of DJ with my clients as I ask them to sing lots of different songs.
What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
Like I’m going to tell you that! Ha! Actually, I don’t think I have one. I embarrass myself all the time so it is normal.
What has been your best DJing moment?
Probably when I drank a bit toooo much coffee and was unbelievably wired. Doesn’t take much.
Who is your favourite artist?
How can I have a favourite artist when I listen to so much different music? Ok, if I HAVE to choose, it’ll be Regina Spektor. I think she’s a great vocalist, songwriter and pianist. Piano is my joint favourite instrument with the voice.
What is your all time favourite album?
Err, can I come back to this one?
Where do you shop for music?
Everywhere I’m a girl, we love shopping! Silly.
