Great show from Exeter comedy duo |
O’Shea & Ogilvie, Out of Season, Cygnet New Theatre, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July, 7:30pm
By Jenna Richards
Exeter comedy duo O’shea and Ogalvie roused the crowd with some catchy tunes and great sketches at Exeter’s New Theatre last week.
The female comics, Marina O’shea and Lucy Ogilvie, have only been performing to together since the end of last year but the mixed age audience instantly warmed to the m. They were engaging and entertaining, their well imagined repertoire including songs, dances and skits with likeable characters.
In a small theatre your performance is scrutinised right down to the last details and these girls didn’t miss a beat – the odd, well dealt with, technical hitch adding to the comic affect.
The pair mixed their witty, instinctive comedy with some very catchy tunes, my personal favourite being the self-penned Revenge Song. The catchy, easily relateable, lyrics are still easily brought to mind – for someone who is useless at remembering lyrics this is impressive!
Simple but frequent costume and hair changes brought each character to life and fantastic well-timed facial expressions added to the overall performance.
O’shea and Ogalvie are two Exeter girls who are clearly working very hard – and it is paying off. Hopefully there will be much more to come from this comedy double act. If they are in town go see them…
The show was part of the Exeter Ignite theatre festival.
