Exeter Respect 2013

Exeter Respect is the city’s annual celebration of diversity where performing and creative arts and community activities are used to promote multicultural understanding and challenge prejudice.

This year’s events…

1. Exeter Respect Launch Party:
Lemon Grove, Exeter University
Friday 31st May, 9pm-2am, Advance tickets £12

BEATZ & BOBZ and RINSEOUT will be hosting the party for Exeter Respect over two rooms. The night has 5 very special Guests 3 of which are making their first visit to Exeter! Featuring: ARTWORK (Magnetic Man), DON LETTS (Big Audio Dynamite), ENGINE EARZ EXPERIMENT, LEWAH, CRISSY CRISS (Radio 1 Xtra), TANTRM DESIRE, MR NICE, MAXXI P, SIMPLISTIX, FRESHOLD B2B CATALYST & many more.

2. Respect In The Park free festival:
Belmont Park, Central Exeter, EX1 2DJ
Saturday & Sunday 1 & 2 June, Sat 12 noon- 7 pm, Sun 12 noon – 6pm.

NEW Phonic FM Stage

Upbeat bands and DJs reflecting a range of musical styles guaranteed to make you dance, hosted by Exeter’s sound alternative community radio station and supported by Exeter College. Featuring performances from Jambassadors, Bitterati, Peachy Farmer, FOS Brothers and N.U.M.B and many more…

Community Stage

Diverse performances leading up to our stunning power-drumming Sunday finale with Kagemusha Taiko. Also showcasing performances from Music Bird Choir, Soundwaves, Samba Marcianas, Reprezent and Sun Lotus Taiko amonghst a host of other acts. Stage sponsored by Hannahs.

Music Café

Laid back performances representing a range of cultures in our lovely sofa-filled marquee hosted by Exeter Local Records with The Real Food Store café right next door. Music from acts including Jason Wallace, Mae Karthauser, Acoya, Solarference, Koutachou, Tobias Ben Jacob, Buzzard Folk (ft. Kim Wei), Billy Bottle & The Multiple, Tovarish Dmitry, Sculpture Music and Dakar Audio Club (Acoustic Set).

Play & Activity Area

We’ve squeezed in more things for kids to do than ever! Activities include The Woodcraft Folk, Deaf Academy sponsored story-telling, Widsith & Deor’s tipi, Football in the Community, Clifton Hill Sports Centre, the Community Action bouncy castle, Exeter Community Initiatives, the Scrapstore, Exeter Steiner Academy and much much more…

Dance Workshops

Dance, dance, dance in this vibrant area run by Bar Venezia!

NEW Music Workshops

Devon Youth Service, Young Devon and Wren Music present brand new music workshops for this year, from traditional folk to beatboxing…

Wellbeing Zone

Alternative therapies from around the world in the chilled atmosphere of the park’s sensory garden hosted by the NHS NEW Devon Clinical Commissioning Group, Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Healthwatch Devon, and including music from Rockhaven Adventure Therapy.

Fire Service Area

Fire fighting fun with interactive children’s activities and demonstrations by Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Market Stalls

More local crafts and Fair Traded goods than ever.
