How far can you go
inside yourself?
No one no one no one knows
I know.
No one sees this skin.
Underneath.
No one comes with you
this far
until the bottom of the world
falls away
as if you were never attached
to anything.
And you
And you

Sadie Jones wants to disappear. She walks a tightrope between reality and her imagination; a chaos of words, and silence. Sadie leads her lover and her sister into the strange landscape of her unconscious where speech is composed like music, buying apples is a lesson in absurdism and she sees words etched into her own skeleton.

Hannah Silva is a South West based writer, performer and theatre maker. She has shown her work internationally and has performed throughout the UK including at Latitude Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and the London Word Festival. Her solo show ‘Opposition’ toured nationally 2011-12 and was described in a five star review by What’s on Stage as ‘radical, political, courageous’.

Pressing An Ear Against A Hive: Dramaturgy in Practice
Thursday 11th April, 7:30pm

This 90-minute session with dramaturg David Lane and writer Hannah Silva explores their working relationship on the development of THE DISAPPEARANCE OF SADIE JONES. Using their process as a starting point, it will consider the role of the dramaturg as one that is essentially inquisitive, searching for opportunities to meet and discuss a play on its own terms, rather than expecting it to conform to a set of fixed rules. An informal Q&A will form part of the session. An essential discussion for those interested in the role of the dramaturg and progressive approaches to play development.

Tickets £6.
