It’s Not Good Music, It’s Good Grammar by The Begbies

Scotland’s Kings of ‘Skindie’ The Begbies have released their much-anticipated first album: It ‘s Not Good Music, It’s Good Grammar.

Since their creation towards the end of 2009 The Begbies have very quickly gained a reputation for catchy tunes & energetic on stage performances and have now relesed their first album. Available on iTunes now with a CD release expected to follow soon. It’s Not Good Music, It’s Good Grammar features 10 tracks in their distinctive ska/indie style including singles Ashleigh and Loves To Pretend plus 7 other original tracks and a superb cover of Bob Andy’s Too Experienced.

The Begbies current line up is: Vocals – Stuart Arfield, Bass – Alex Paton, Guitar – Liam Corbett, Guitar – Gary Ovens, Drums – Elliott Hart.  Liam and Stuart grew up next to each other in K-toi (Knightsridge in Livingston) and spent every summer playing football and discussing music. After one drunken karaoke where Liam picked up his guitar and Stuart sung, they decided to form a band. Soon after Rosco joined and added the furious drum beats that the band are now famous for. The band added the very talented Gary Ovens to the line up after being impressed with his solo stuff and its proved to be a match made in heaven!

The band have soared to some amazing highs, the début video for “Tales of a Lonely Ex” getting the band some heavy praise from industry legends such as Jim Gellatly, which has lead to commercial air play for the band both at home and abroad. Since the first few jams in Stu’s living room the band have gone on to play their own headline shows at the world famous King Tuts in Glasgow, the 02 Academy Islington London, Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Elgin and their home town Livingston.

Further info on the Begbies can be found on their Facebook page and website http://www.thebegbies.co.uk/. I can thoroughly recommend It’s Not Good Music, It’s Good Grammar to anyone with a taste for ska/punk/indie, or in fact to anyone who just loves a decent band belting out original, energetic, fast and furious tunes!
