No Guts No Glory Presents… The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room, an exhibition of lo-fi photography by Swansea-based artist and musician, Jamie Morrison, launches at Exeter Picture House on Tuesday 30th April from 7-9pm.

The open evening will include live acoustic performances by local musicians Some Sort Of Threat and Roo Pescod.

Jamie’s relationship with art and photography was born from a combination of necessity and a DIY attitude. Growing up playing in a punk band that was in constant need of poster and t-shirt designs his ideas were put into action, to save waiting for some one else to do the work. This body of work is an ongoing series. In most instances the photographs have been shot by Jamie whilst touring with his band, The Arteries.

Documenting split seconds of stillness within transition; the moments in which the subjects are awaiting their next move, immortalised within the image. ‘Please don’t leave me to remain in the waiting room’, Fugazi.
The photographs are printed using Xerox machines before being hand-painted with veils of coloured inks.

“Photography is an expensive process, but money shouldn’t be a limitation when wanting to create art…this process and exhibition is all about undercutting those limitations”, says Jamie.
Like No Guts No Glory, Jamie believes that art should be accessible and affordable for everyone.

The exhibition will be on show from 30th April 27th May at Exeter Picture House, EX4 3AJ
