The national Pure Rawk Awards are back for 2014 and Phonic FM needs your help. Mikes James, of Mike James’ Rock Show, has made it into the final four DJs and I think I speak for us all to say that he should be the deserving winner of DJ of the Year category.
Pure Rawk is an online publication that focuses on rock, metal, punk and their sub-genres. Each year since 2006, they have presented and given awards to unearth the musical diamonds in the rough, giving them more coverage and the ability to achieve greater things. Pure Rawk have grown in popularity since their beginnings, starting off with 150 votes but last year accruing over 11,000 votes in various categories.
Our very own Mike James, who has been presenting his Friday night rock show on Phonic FM for over five years, has been a deserving winner of other awards in the past, including for Pure Rawk’s DJ of the Year last year. Since winning South West Music Award DJ of the Year in 2011, he garnered popularity and attention to him rose exponentially. This, however, does not free him of needing votes.
