Restless Theatre to bring Much Ado About Nothing

Restless Theatre to bring Much Ado About Nothing

Devon-based Restless Theatre Company are bringing Shakespeare in a Box: Much Ado About Nothing to cafes, pubs, village halls and theatres around the county over the next fortnight.

Whilst keeping the original text, Restless put a new spin on this classic comedy about the fragility of honour. Using only six actors, a box, and upcycled props Restless Theatre create an uncompromisingly imaginative performance that is suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

When Claudio returns from war he finds that his thoughts have turned to marriage. To while away the days before the wedding, his friend Don Pedro proposes a plan to induce confirmed bachelor Benedick into a match with his long-time sparring partner, Beatrice. However, when Claudio thinks he sees his betrothed with another man, his jealousy derails the wedding, leaving Benedick and Beatrice to reunite the lovers.

Restless Theatre specialises in upcycling old stories, texts, and household objects to create uncompromisingly imaginative performances. Formed in 2008, this Devon-based company brings together local artists from a variety of disciplines to create fresh approaches to retelling classic stories with a twenty first century twist.

Each season, Restless Theatre develop one production that is suitable for touring to a wide range of venues including outdoor spaces, community centres, theatres and schools. This forms their Shakespeare in a Box format and allows them to bring quality shows that are suitable for all ages to the heart of urban and rural communities.
