The Day We Played Brazil

The Day We Played Brazil

The Day We Played Brazil, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Wed 16 July – Sat 2 August

As the 2014 World Cup comes to a close and Europe prepares to mark the centenary of the start of WW1, Exeter Northcott will be hosting a theatrical performance in partnership with Exeter City Football Club and Exeter Community Arts Project to celebrate Exeter’s special place in history.

The Day We Played Brazil celebrates the 100th anniversary of the extraordinary football match between Exeter City and the Brazil national team – the first-ever game played by Brazil.

The cream of Devon’s theatrical talent have come together to created this vibrant celebration of Exeter’s spirit and history: Directors Polly Agg-Manning and David Lockwood are working alongside writer/director Nick Stimson, guiding a talented local cast of over 90 to bring this entertaining new musical play to Exeter. Designer Michael Vale brings a wealth of top-level international experience; Costume Designer Jane Stuart-Brown and Exeter Northcott Theatre’s Wardrobe Department have created over 100 costumes. To top everything off, a live band will be belting out ridiculously catchy songs featuring everything from football chants to spectacular samba rhythms and plenty of infectious tunes in between.

The Day We Played Brazil promises to be a high quality, tremendously entertaining song and dance through a story of adventure, excitement, highs and lows on an off the pitch; it’s the story of a hundred years in the life of Exeter.
