Listen again: Art Week Exeter on Phonic FM

The inaugural Art Week Exeter – a new festival for the city – took place between 9–15 May, with 101 events across 56 venues in Exeter and Topsham.

Phonic FM got involved with two special programmes:

  • On Friday 13 May at 4pm, David Treharne presented a special edition of ‘Exeter Talking’. Ever wondered how an artist finds inspiration? How do they start to work on a blank canvas? Where do the colours they use come from? These and other questions are the basis for a conversation with artist Thorie Hinds about the two paintings (pictured below). She’s one of dozens of artists sharing their work as part of Exeter Open Studios, a constituent event of Art Week Exeter. Later, Paula Crutchlow also joined Dave to talk about her project, the Museum of Contemporary Commodities.
  • On Saturday 14 May at 2pm, Josie Sutcliffe presented the annual ‘Exeter Art Radio’ (EAR) programme. The theme this year was trade/exchange. With a guest list of participating artists, sounds/music from David Sawyer and Ulrika Igraine and the voice of the visiting public, this was a fascinating round-up of a busy week in the city.
