Listen again: BBC Radio 1’s Academy on Phonic FM

BBC Radio 1’s Academy was a week of workshops, events and Q&As designed to give young people the tools, info and inspiration needed to succeed in a creative career.

This year, the Academy arrived in Devon, ahead of Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Powderham Castle. Now in its fifth year, BBC Radio 1’s Academy included a series of special events, local engagement and face-to-face activity themed around creativity. It began in Teignbridge in April and culminated in Exeter in May, with a week of radio shows, gigs, practical workshops and Q&As.

Phonic FM was very pleased to collaborate with BBC Radio 1’s Academy and Sound Gallery Studios, running radio production workshops for young people and recording sessions by young local musicians. The results of these workshops and sessions can be heard in this special four-hour programme, broadcast between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday 19 May 2016.

The programme is presented by Hannah Jay, Steph Knight, John Stammers and John Wigzell, with production by David Treharne and Tom Hopkins.
