The Rock Show on Phonic 106.8 FM are proud to present….
FANDANGLE, Slapface and Barbosa at The Cavern Club, Queen Street Exeter, on Sunday 19 October. Tickets £4.00 on the door.
Fandangle totally stole the show for us this year at Respect Summer Slam so it was only natural that we invited them back to Exeter to kick-start our Rock Show Live events in the Cavern Club.
Expect the usual full hearted fun set from one of the UK’s hardest working DIY ska/punk acts.
Support comes from Slapface label mate of Fandangle on Party House Records. Local act Barbosa join the Rock Show DJs to complete the line up for what is bound to be a not to miss show.
Headliner Fandangle formed in 1999 and have established themselves as a DIY outfit. They can’t really be classified as one genre of ska because there are many different influences that are prevalent throughout their songs. Some people have described them as: ‘Less Than Jake with more of an edge’, and others have said they are more like: ‘MxPx with brass and catchier melodies’.
Breaking into the London scene they scored numerous supports slots at high profile venues for bands such as Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Mustard Plug, Big D and the Kids Table, Capdown, The Selecter, The Pietasters, The Toasters, King Prawn, Spunge and many more.
Fandangle’s debut EP (Dodging Tomatoes 1999) was recorded when they were just 14 and landed them numerous support slots at The Underworld in London. Three years later The Alcoholic EP was released and this enabled the band to travel around the country and play shows to different crowds. The follow up was The Emperor Still Wears No Clothes (2004), with tracks such as Destination Tragedy earning airplay on Xfm’s Unsigned radio show.
Their debut album on Party House Records had 1,000 copies pressed, but they sold quite quickly. Desperate to release more material Fandangle went back into the studio and released two more EPs in 2004, Full Steam Ahead, and the Private Show. The Private Show EP has sold more than 5,000 copies since its release.
In 2005, in time for their tour with Reel Big Fish, they released the Take One For The Team EP on ska label Moon Ska Europe. In the summer of 2005 Fandangle released a three track EP called Back To Basics. Over 1000 copies of this EP were sold in the first week of its release. The new EP Blackout is out now and is their latest release on Party House Records.
With already over 900 gigs under their reigns and 11 UK tours (including two tours with Reel Big Fish, two tours with Zebrahead and a tour with The Toasters), Fandangle are one of the hardest working bands in the UK.
Don’t miss their gig at the Cavern on Sunday 19 October. Promoted by the Phonic FM Rock Show this is one gig not to miss.
