Phonic FM DJs and volunteers pulled off a spectacular night as the station hosted its first ever outside broadcast.
The event, part of a street party, marking the end of the Exeter Festival saw the community radio station setting up stage in the grounds of Exeter Castle.
Revellers flocked to enjoy the eclectic mix of tunes played by some of the best Phonic FM DJs from a mix of top Phonic shows.
The display by Exeter’s sound alternative received rave reviews from directors, DJs and listeners.
Phonic FM director and Future Sound of Exeter show presenter, Paul Giblin, who played a pink Floyd mix on the night, said a massive thank you to all involved.
“This was a massive leap forward for Phonic FM,” he said.
“We showcased a very good and diverse range of studio output and once other activities had stopped the area filled up nicely for Mike from the Rock Show to do his crowd-pleasing business.
“This was a great high-impact event and one we hope to repeat in the future.”
Listener Andy Hardwell was at the event with a group of friends. He enjoyed the evening and said the highlight he been the eclectic mix of music.
“That is one of the great things about Phonic FM, you always hear something you have never heard before,” he said.
Adding: “I thought this was a great event for the station and I had a fantastic night out. My friends listening at home also really enjoyed the music.”
Phonic FM DJ, Tezza, also played on the night, speaking afterwards he said: “I thought the night went very well, it was very positive for Phonic FM. Hats off to Audaye and everyone else that set the whole thing up.”

The full line up on the night was Dave Treharne from Edge of Jazz, DJ Retsina from The Respect Show, DJ Ambiessence from The Future Sound Of Exeter, Tezza from Collision, DJ Noisemonkey and Count Vanderhoff from Evolution Bananas Music Show, DJ Advertboy from Big Wednesday, Soshan da Silva from Wax The Van, Mike James from The Rockshow, and DJ Signal Jammer from NONOM.
