Phonic FM is looking for interested individuals to become members of its Steering Group.
The current steering group has done much work behind the scenes in Phonic FM. Some the current members will formally step down at the Phonic FM open meeting on April the 8th 2010 and we are looking for people to replace them.
The Steering Group is drawn from members of the wider community, it advises on station strategy, programme content, and provides arbitration. It is the eyes and ears of the station.
In agreement with Ofcom, the directors of the station have granted certain duties and rights to the Steering Group: the group holds meetings and advises the board of the views of the interested parties (‘stakeholders’ and volunteers) as to how best the station should be run in terms of strategy and programming. It also has the right to arbitrate on any issues arising. The Board, in return, is accountable to the Steering Group, and must report back to the Steering Group regarding implementation of any recommendations.
Thus far, the Steering Group has contained individuals representing Exeter City Council, Exeter College, University of Exeter, Exeter CVS, Exeter Respect Festival, Ivy Project, Exeter Arts Council, Exeter Healthcare Trust, Devon County Council, Arts Council England, Exeter Chamber of Commerce, and Phonic FM.
If you’d like to have a say in the development of Exeter’s Community Radio Station, Phonic FM, then come along to the meeting being held in Exeter Phoenix’s Black Box on April the 8th at 6pm, when prospective Steering Group members can express their interest in serving.
If you would like more info or you cannot attend the meeting and want to put yourself forward as a prospective steering group member please email phonicsteeringroup@phonic.fm and we’ll be in touch.
