A performance of the poetry of Keats, Byron, Wordsworth and Blake, directed by Helen Eastman.
Live Canon makes its first visit to Exeter Northcott with its unique blend of poetry and music.
A selection of well-known verse and undiscovered gems, Live Canon’s performances are a fabulous way to hear, see and experience poetry. Three performers take to the stage for an hour of poetry, interspersed with a capella singing.
In Pimm’s and Poetry – The Romantics, Simon Muller, Anthony Shuster and Claire Redcliffe perform an eclectic selection of poems from the Romantic period include Keats, Byron, Shelley, Blake, Coleridge, Wordsworth, Southey, Barbauld and Hemans. With classic Odes, narrative poetry from Coleridge, sonnets from Wordsworth and Blake’s pithy philosophy, this range of poetry makes for a dynamic evening.
Every Live Canon show features the premiere of newly commissioned musical settings of poems; this performance will feature the world premiere of a new setting of William Blake’s The Garden of Love, by British composer Russell Hepplewhite.
After the show, as Pimm’s is served in the foyer, there will be music from the Live Canon ensemble, with guest pianist Kieron Quirke.
